Cold Calling (2023)
10 min | Comedy, Mystery | Directed by Naomi Onakunle
The film follows the life of an ordinary university student, Kiera (Evelyn Ivison) who is trying to prepare for an upcoming exam with her friend Gracie (Kianna White).
However, the revision session is cut short when she gets a phone call from an unknown seller.
Despite declining the caller’s offer, more calls from various others ensue.
Tempers begin to rise, and the callers seem to be materialising.
What will Kiera do when she comes face to face with one of said callers (Aison Clark)?
I guess you’ll just have to find out.

I am Naomi, Director of Cold Calling
I chose to write and direct this film with the aim of showcasing and raising awareness to the fact that we are all connected in some form, whether that be knowingly or unknowingly.
This is especially true as we live in a digital world, making it very easy for people to gain access to your private information, and use it for malicious reasons.
I wanted to create something that is relatable too! Growing up my mum would get a lot of phone calls from cold callers trying to sell her products, which was frustrating as she had repeatedly asked to be removed from their database.
Witnessing her interactions with the callers first-hand, definitely served as a catalyst for the interactions between my main character, Kiera, and all the people that call her, albeit severely overdramatised in the name of entertainment.
